About the Department Established in the year 1911, this is one of the oldest departments in the college. Through the years, the department could nurture many national and international players. Recently, Rohan S Kunnummel of our college represented India U-19 cricket team against England in the teat series. Department offers coaching in football, cricket and shuttle badminton on a regular basis by establishing separate academies with expert coaches. Infrastructure facilities like gymnasium, indoor shuttle court, indoor and outdoor cricket practice nets are made available to the students. As an extension programme, budding talents are identified during the summer coaching campus for school going children. Our students contest in almost all university championships and we have bagged the university title in weight lifting women category in 2018-19. On an average, 15 students represent the Calicut university in the inter-university championship every year.
Programmes Department offers open course in Physical Education for undergraduate students in the fifth semester. The open course “Physical activity, Health and wellness” intends to provide awareness in physical fitness to the students.
