The Malabar Christian College, is one of the oldest educational institutions in South India. The college offers 11 UG programmes and 9 PG programmes. Established in 1909 by the Basel Evangelical Missionaries from Basel, Switzerland, the College is a Heritage Institution situated in the heart of the city. At a time when education was the right of the elite sections of the society, the German missionaries, who were the founding fathers of this institution, threw open its doors of learning to all sections including women, the lower castes and the less privileged and since then the College has been in the forefront of imparting education without discrimination.
To build enlightened intellects for tomorrow by fostering academic excellence, ethical values, and lifelong learning, preparing a community of learners who are intellectually vibrant, socially conscious, and globally competent, equipped with the skills, values, and vision to shape a sustainable and inclusive future.

The classrooms of Malabar Christian College provide conducive learning environments that support interactive teaching, student participation and collaborative learning. Equipped with appropriate furniture, teaching aids and digital learning facilities, the classrooms enable faculty to integrate multimedia resources and diverse pedagogical approaches into the teaching–learning process.
The Hermann Gundert Hall, established with financial assistance under the Government of India’s Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) project and completed around 2021, is named in honour of Dr. Hermann Gundert, the renowned German missionary, scholar and linguist associated with the Basel Evangelical Mission, which founded the college. The hall provides a versatile venue for seminars, academic programmes, cultural events, conferences and multimedia-based activities.
The Chemistry, Physics, Zoology and Botany laboratories of Malabar Christian College provide well-equipped learning environments that support hands-on experimentation, observation and scientific inquiry. With appropriate laboratory facilities, instruments and resources, the laboratories enable students to connect theoretical concepts with practical experience and develop essential scientific skills. The facilities also support project work, research-oriented learning and experiential education across the science disciplines.
The Audio-Visual Hall of Malabar Christian College provides a versatile space for academic presentations, seminars, workshops, conferences and institutional programmes. Equipped to support multimedia-based teaching and learning, the hall facilitates effective communication, collaborative engagement and technology-enabled academic activities.
