Mathematics was one of the subjects in Pre University level when the college was started in 1909. The undergraduate course in Mathematics was started in July 1956. The postgraduate course in Mathematics was started in October 2013.
Undergraduate Programme:BSc Mathematics Honours is a four year (Eight semester) programme, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate (10+2) in Science with Mathematics.
Department offering two minors in first, second and third semester. One MDC in first and second semester. One SEC in fifth and sixth semester.
Postgraduate Programme: It is a two year (four semester) programme, minimum eligibility
for which is bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with 50% marks and above. The annual intake is 30 students. Total credit for the programme will be 80. The students will have to complete a project work in the final semester. There are Ability Enhancement Course(AEC) and Professional Competency Course(PCC) which are mandatory for a programme but not counted for the calculation of SGPA or CGPA. The students will have Comprehensive Viva Voce in the final semester based on the core papers of the entire programme.
Interactive sessions where students analyze mathematical problems and real-life situations using logical and critical thinking skills.
Periodic invited talks and lecture series by academicians and industry experts to expose students to advanced topics and recent developments in Mathematics.
Activity-based learning programme designed to enhance problem-solving ability, teamwork, and analytical thinking through mathematical clues and puzzles.
Department-level and intercollegiate-level quiz programmes to strengthen conceptual understanding, encourage healthy competition, and improve quick reasoning skills.
